Test Engineer - 6 Months - Remote - £450pd Inside IR35

The role:
A leading Government institution is looking for a Test Engineer to support the delivery of a new data services platform and APIs that enable external users to search open datasets.
You'll assist in driving quality across deliverables, while helping embed modern, scalable testing practices. This is an initial 6-month contract, Inside IR35, primarily remote.
Required Experience & Skills
Strong background in planning and delivering structured testing within complex data or integration-focused projects
Experience defining and implementing end-to-end test processes aligned to Agile delivery teams
Ability to produce detailed, reusable test artefacts including test plans, scenarios, scripts, and supporting documentation
Proven experience coordinating Integration Testing and End-to-End Testing across multiple components and teams
Skilled in identifying, logging, and managing defects and data quality issues through to resolution
Experience reporting on test progress, metrics, and overall product quality through summaries, dashboards, and reviews
Good understanding of security, performance, and accessibility testing, particularly within public sector or standards-driven environments
Experience working with data integration and transformation tools such as MuleSoft and Talend (or similar enterprise data tooling)
Ability to work closely with QA, product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure requirements are fully testable and quality-led
Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate application and test automation issues
Experience mentoring or supporting other team members in testing approaches and best practices
Comfortable working in collaborative Agile/SCRUM environments
